Nigella Lawson will join the Financial Times as a columnist, bringing her distinctive style and expertise to FT Weekend’s industry-leading food and drink coverage.
An internationally renowned writer, broadcaster and cook, Nigella Lawson has presented highly-acclaimed TV series for the BBC and Channel 4 and is the author of twelve bestselling books which together have sold more than 12 million copies globally. Before becoming a food writer she had been a critic and op-ed columnist for a number of national newspapers, including the FT.
In her monthly column, Lawson will use cooking as a lens onto all facets of life. She joins a stellar line-up of FT Weekend food and drink columnists that includes Jay Rayner, Marina O’Loughlin, Tim Hayward and Jancis Robinson.
Nigella Lawson said: “As a greedy reader of the FT’s food pages, I’m just thrilled to be joining them as a writer, too.”
FT Weekend editor Janine Gibson said: “We have long considered Nigella Lawson one of our finest writers - not just on food, but life itself. It makes perfect sense to be signing her to FT Weekend's all-star food and drink team led by editor Harriet Fitch Little. Only the best, and all of the best, for our readers!”
Last year the FT expanded and refreshed its food and drink coverage with the launch of Appetites, an online hub that brings together highlights from FT Weekend Magazine, HTSI and FT Globetrotter. Appetites features restaurant reviews, recipes, expert guides and destination dining pieces, giving FT readers access to exceptional coverage on food, drink and culture.
Lawson’s first column will be published on FT Appetites and in FT Weekend Magazine on Saturday 4th April and will appear monthly thereafter.
