The Financial Times has launched a new partnership with Nomura, the global financial services group, to provide free access to its award-winning journalism for students around the world. Through this partnership, schools teaching 16 to 19-year-olds can register at ft.com/schoolsarefree.

FT Schools helps students achieve more in school and better prepare for life beyond the classroom through access to the FT’s high quality journalism on a range of topics including global affairs, economics and climate change. The programme includes a weekly newsletter, regular competitions, a class discussion page on the Schools Hub curated with teacher-recommended content, and the Student Advocate Work Experience Programme where students champion news literacy in their schools.

Director of Strategic Partnerships and FT Board Member James Lamont, commented: “FT Schools supports 69,000 students in over 132 countries, helping them develop the confidence and critical thinking skills necessary for the adult world. With Nomura’s support, we are excited to expand this programme and offer even more valuable learning resources to students globally.”

Nomura President and Group CEO Kentaro Okuda said: “At Nomura, we have been investing in education programmes since the 1990s. We believe in the power of education to shape future leaders. By partnering with FT Schools, we are helping young people access diverse perspectives and build a well-rounded understanding of the world. It’s essential for the next generation to have access to credible, thought-provoking journalism.”

As part of this partnership, and to mark its 100th anniversary, Nomura will also sponsor two special reports that offer in-depth analysis of the biggest trends shaping the future of work and education, helping young people navigate their next steps.
