12 May 2025: The Financial Times has appointed Karl Oskar Teien as its new chief product officer.

In this role, Teien will spearhead the strategy, development, and delivery of innovative products that serve over one million digital subscribers daily. He will also oversee the internal tools and platforms that support our award-winning journalism. Teien will report directly to chief product and technology officer John Kundert.

Teien joins the FT from Schibsted, where he was director of product, leading teams that shaped the digital experience for some of Scandinavia’s most trusted news brands, including Aftenposten, Svenska Dagbladet, Omni, Bergens Tidende, and Stavanger Aftenblad. His career also spans roles at fintech firms such as Vipps MobilePay and startups focused on financial inclusion in emerging markets.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Karl to our team,” said Kundert. “His deep experience in media will be invaluable as we grow our global audience and evolve the FT’s product offerings for a new generation of readers.”

“This is an incredible opportunity to help shape how people access trusted journalism at a time of major technological shifts and global economic change. The FT is uniquely positioned to help readers make sense of it all, and I’m excited to work with teams across the business to bring that journalism to an even wider audience,” said Teien.
