The Financial Times has announced the appointment of Rebecca Salsbury as chief product and technology officer (CPTO) from January 2026. She will also join the FT Group Management Board.

Salsbury, who joined the FT in 2023 as chief technology officer, has been instrumental in shaping and delivering the technology strategy and direction across all FT Group companies. 

In addition to her tenure at the FT, she brings a significant track record of success at other media businesses, including over a decade at the BBC, where she was responsible for platform services underpinning all digital products.

“Rebecca is an exceptionally capable and experienced leader. She combines strategic thinking, deep technical expertise and a collaborative style that will bring real strength to the FT management board,” said Jon Slade, CEO, FT Group.

“We live in a changing world, both supported and disrupted by technology, where our readers expect to experience the FT’s products and services in a frictionless way,” said Salsbury. “Our incredible team of product, technology, delivery and data professionals across the globe work hard to deliver that every day. She succeeds John Kundert, who leaves the FT after many successful years to begin a new chapter abroad with his family.
