The Financial Times has appointed Jo Ellison as its new fashion editor. Ellison joins from British Vogue where she is currently features director. She will take up her new post in August.

Lionel Barber, editor of the Financial Times, said: “Jo is a hugely talented writer with deep experience in the fashion industry and a sharp eye for style and detail. She joins the FT at an important time of growth in our luxury portfolio, and will make a valuable contribution to our talented team”.

Ellison said: “I am delighted to be joining the Financial Times as its fashion editor. Working for such a respected, global brand will be tremendously exciting and challenging. I am looking forward to it enormously.”

In her role as features director at British Vogue, Ellison writes and commissions the title’s main features and interviews. Ellison’s book Vogue Gowns, an overview of evening dresses in British Vogue over the last century will be published this Autumn.

Ellison is a former features editor at the Independent and started her career at the Irish Examiner. She holds an MA in History from the University of Edinburgh.
