Il Sole 24 Ore and the Financial Times, two of the world’s leading financial and business news organisations, have signed a three-year partnership agreement for the creation of a series of international digital and physical events in Italy.

“Made in Italy: Setting a New Course” will involve two events: a Pre-Summit Think Tank, scheduled for 8 June, and a three-day Summit, which will take place from 4-6 October. The events will gather government officials, business leaders and representatives from the most renowned Italian sectors as well as international opinion leaders. Discussions will be moderated by journalists from Il Sole 24 Ore, the Financial Times and Sky TG24 news channel.

Speaking about the partnership announcement, Orson Francescone, Managing Director of FT Live at the Financial Times, said: The FT is delighted to enter this partnership with Il Sole 24 Ore in the spirit of promoting the iconic ‘Made In Italy’ brand and supporting the Italian economy during such a challenging period. Building on the relationship we began last year, I am confident that the unique partnership of two of the world’s most respected media brands will seal the success of an exciting series of informative events that reflect on the prospects for recovery and development of Italy’s most celebrated industries; as a native Italian it gives me great pride to be able to provide a platform for this country’s economic relaunch”.

The events will be organised under a media partnership with Sky TG24, and broadcast live on Sky TG24 Primo Piano and via live streaming on the Ilsole24ore.com website. Both will offer simultaneous Italian-English translation. Content will also be available to watch on demand after the events.

This partnership builds on the success of last year’s "Made in Italy: The Restart" inaugural virtual event in October 2020 that attracted 28,000 viewers over the course of three days, featuring more than 60 high profile speakers, including government ministers, senior representatives of public bodies, and CEOs from some of Italy’s leading companies.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, will join the “Pre-Summit Think Tank”, a curtain-raiser that will reflect on the impact of the government’s recovery plan, including opportunities to revive sectors that represent the cornerstone of Italian brand excellence. The event will also discuss the role of the financial system in supporting the recovery.

Interviews with CEOs of companies representing Italian excellence — in the energy, transport, telecommunications, aerospace, fashion, food, tourism and design sectors, among others — will outline the current needs of business and the conditions affecting the Italian manufacturing system.

The Summit in October will build on discussions from the June event and closely examine the outlook for Italian business. It will be opened by a high profile policy-maker and explore the actions necessary to support Italy’s export and manufacturing sectors.

Like "Made in Italy: The Restart", "Made in Italy: Setting a New Course" will be a significant exploration of the conditions of the Italian recovery, under the auspices of leading news organisations Il Sole 24 Ore, Financial Times and Sky TG24.
