The FT’s central banks newsletter has won best newsletter at the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) Digital Media Awards Europe.

Written by economics commentator Chris Giles, the weekly briefing is an essential guide to money, interest rates, inflation and what central banks are thinking.

WAN-IFRA said that the newsletter combined “a trusted and passionate writer, unique yet digestible insights on a complex topic, and valuable visuals to create an engaging and impactful newsletter” and that it was an “excellent example of a topic-based newsletter built around a highly knowledgeable writer who is clearly an engaging storyteller.”

FT head of newsletters Sarah Ebner said: “This newsletter from Chris Giles is simply brilliant. Since launch in October our list size has more than doubled and it’s proved to be highly popular with readers, three quarters of whom are FT Professional subscribers. The open rate is also excellent, close to 50 per cent.”
