The Financial Times is today rolling out a new author alert function, allowing readers to subscribe to a 6am daily digest email with the latest stories by FT columnists.

The new service is initially available for select FT writers including Gideon RachmanLucy Kellaway and Martin Wolf . With one click, readers can add or remove authors from the email briefing.

FT.com managing editor Robert Shrimsley said: “We developed FT author alerts in response to readers who asked for easier ways keep up with articles from their favourite FT commentators. Though we have started with columnists, we intend to roll it out across all our writers over the coming year.

“It is one of many measures we’re introducing to help readers personalise their FT experience. Others include the redesigned FT Portfolio and the Gift Article, which allows FT subscribers to share up to 10 articles per month with non-subscribers.”
