Last night the FT’s How To Spend It magazine was named National Colour Supplement of the Year in the 2011 Newspaper Awards. It is the eleventh year the luxury lifestyle magazine has taken home the prize in a category recognising entries that “demonstrate invention and generate aspirational attitudes” and “could easily carry a cover price as stand-alone publications”.

The judges said How To Spend It was once again perceived a first class product of “incredible quality – exuding gloss, sparkle, richness and vibrancy,” and that its “perceptive choice of photography, incisive use of colour, quality of paper stock and print production techniques” made it stand out from the rest.

The FT iPad app received a high commendation.
