Last night FT Money editor Claer Barrett (@ClaerB) was named Financial Commentator of the Year at the Headline Money Awards, for her Serious Money column.
Barrett was commended for three of her columns, including “Why we have to kill the tooth fairy”, which the judges described as an “outspoken piece about financial education”, her outrage over Daniel Godfrey’s sacking and an article on London’s overheating property market.
Barret’s columns were praised as being “both interesting and offbeat in equal measure.” One judge commented: “You might say that Claer’s viewpoints are a little out of the ordinary from usual FT far but they obviously resonate with plenty of people looking at the feedback via social media and through readers’ comments.”
Investment Adviser’s Julia Faurschou (@juliafaurschou) was also named Rising Star of the Year in the B2B sector. The judges commented that her “writing really grabs you from the start” and that Julia’s submission demonstrated her “writing skills, eye for a story and her ability to analyse.”
Jo Cumbo (@JosephineCumbo) was highly commended in the Pensions Journalist of the Year category and FT contributor Maike Currie (@MaikeCurrie) of Fidelity was named Expert of the Year.
