The Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) awarded the Financial Times three prizes at its 20th annual Best in Business contest ceremony this past weekend. The competition, which recognises the year’s finest business news coverage and commentary, attracted more than 1,000 entries from leading news organisations.
Gillian Tett, US Managing Editor of the FT, commented: “The FT is committed to providing our readers with the highest quality journalism, and it is an honour to have been recognized by our peers.”
The Financial Times was named the winner in the following categories:
- International Commentary – John Gapper (@johngapper)
- Breaking News, Newspaper category – Apple Beats scoop and analysis by Matthew Garrahan (@MattGarrahan) and Tim Bradshaw (@tim)
- Government Division – “The Cost of War” by Geoff Dyer (@DyerGeoff), Chloe Sorvino, May Jeong, and Victor Mallet (@VJMallet)
FT also ranked as a finalist in the following categories:
- International Explanatory – “How the Euro Was Saved” by Peter Spiegel (@SpiegelPeter)
- Newspaper Commentary – Gillian Tett (@gilliantett)
