The Financial Times today released version 1.5 of its award-winning iPad app, which has now been downloaded over 425,000 times.

The release adds a host of additional editorial features, bringing the iPad app content closer to the print version of the FT.

Significant new features include:

  • The app now changes to ‘FT Weekend’ on Saturday and Sunday, with FT Weekend branding and stories on the front page
  • Three new weekend sections: Life & Arts, House & Home, and FT Magazine
  • The addition of more important analysis pieces to accompany top news stories
  • A second page of news for World, Companies and UK
  • The addition of the much-requested letters section
  • In-line images and other design improvements to article pages to improve the reader’s experience
