On Wednesday, November 19, the Financial Times welcomed 100 guests to a pub quiz at Ainsworth Park in New York.
Hosted by FT Alphaville and FT’s US markets team, the trivia night included three rounds of gruelling questions about financial scandals, settlements, current events, and hacktivist investors.
Guests included avid readers of FT and Alphaville, from traders to students, as well as financial reporters and editors, including Kelly Evans, co-host of CNBC Closing Bell; Joe Weisenthal of Bloomberg; Charlie Herman, host of WNYC Money Talking; Lizzie O’Leary, host of PRI Marketplace Weekend; and John Carney of the Wall Street Journal’s “Heard on the Street”.
US Managing Editor Gillian Tett addressed the attendees, stressing that the FT is excited to hear from and engage with readers in new formats.
The first place winners (the self-dubbed Team Lower Expectations) took home Bose headphones, Martin Wolf’s The Shifts and the Shocks, and an FT business card holder.
