The Financial Times today announces that Janan Ganesh will be joining its esteemed roster of FT columnists on August 1. In a weekly column published on Tuesdays, he will give his incisive take on UK politics and will also contribute regularly to comment pages, FT.com and FT Weekend.

Ganesh joins the FT after five years as a political correspondent at The Economist where his work has earned recognition for striking the heart of British political debate. Prior to that, he worked as a research fellow at Policy Exchange, a Westminster think tank.

Lionel Barber, editor of the Financial Times, commented: “Janan is a rising star in political journalism in the UK right now and I am delighted he will be joining the FT. His commentary has become a ‘must read’ and I am sure FT readers will relish reading his weekly columns and online commentary.”

Later this year, Ganesh will release a biography on George Osborne.
