5 November 2020: The FT has appointed Richard Rosenberg as chief technology officer, effective 4th January 2021.

In his role as CTO, Richard will lead the FT’s technology strategy across the development and operations teams. He will oversee the delivery of cross-platform customer experiences, sharing his expertise on interactive media applications. 

Richard previously worked in a number of positions within the Expedia Group, including senior roles at both the Hotels.com and Hotwire brands, most recently leading a team of 450 people focused on the technology behind the Hotels.com global product. He also spent time at Sky, where his team produced award-winning and innovative products including the revolutionary Sky News for iPad application. 

FT chief product and information officer Cait O’Riordan said: “Richard is an accomplished technology leader with a track-record of delivering award-winning digital solutions. He has experience of building a diverse and inclusive workforce and has demonstrated his ability to manage and empower teams effectively.”

Commenting on the move Richard said: “I am extremely excited about joining the FT.  Everything that I have seen through this process has impressed me, from the people to the tech to the challenges and opportunities ahead of us in 2021, and I am really looking forward to facing them as a team.”

The FT’s former CTO John Kundert was named chief product officer at the end of last year.
