Clive Cookson, the FT’s science editor has been awarded the runner up prize for the European School of Oncology’s Best Cancer Reporter Award for 2012. The Award was established by ESO to encourage high-quality media coverage on cancer. Cookson will receive a €5,000 prize, awarded for his analysis piece on cancer genomics.

Cookson commented: “I am honoured and grateful to receive this generous prize. My thanks go above all to the researchers and clinicians who take the time and trouble to explain exciting research so clearly to science and medical journalists like me, so that we can let the general public know what they are achieving.”

The winners will receive their prizes at a special ceremony to be held during ESO’s 30th anniversary celebration event – The World Oncology Forum – which will take place in Lugano, Switzerland on 26-27th October.
