3 March 2020: FT Strategies, the FT’s consulting arm, has appointed Tara Lajumoke as managing director. She will lead a team of consultants to help global organisations build sustainable business models, drawing on the experience of the data and strategy experts who transformed the FT into a profitable digital news provider.

Lajumoke joins FT Strategies from McKinsey & Company in London, where she was a junior partner and advised a range of clients on digital transformation, innovative customer programmes and new businesses ventures. She has over 15 years’ strategy, finance and consulting experience from her time at McKinsey, and before that at Goldman Sachs in Europe, Middle East, Africa and the US.

“Tara’s impressive track record in helping some of the world’s top organisations transform and prosper amid huge technological change will be a great asset for the growing FT Strategies team,” said FT’s chief data officer Tom Betts. “Since launching the FT’s consulting arm in 2019 we have seen strong demand from a range of global clients who look for both strategic and practical support on their journey towards building sustainable and customer-focused digital businesses.”

Lajumoke added, “I’m incredibly excited to build and lead FT Strategies. The team sits at the heart of the FT’s mission, bringing a unique blend of industry experts and talented specialists to help businesses survive – and thrive – in the face of increasing disruption. What is particularly distinctive is the ability to draw insights from the live case study which is the success of the Financial Times business  – helping clients move beyond the theory to execution. I look forward to working with organisations to build critical capabilities that enable valuable direct to consumer relationships and deliver sustainable business results.”

Lajumoke previously co-founded a consumer start-up and is an advisor to multiple early stage businesses. She sits on the board of an executive leadership charity and is passionate about supporting entrepreneurs, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds.

She is a Fulbright Scholar and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. She graduated from the London School of Economics & Political Science.

FT Strategies serves a range of clients and recently announced a partnership with INMA and Google to launch the Google News Initiatives Subscriptions Lab in Europe, a nine month programme to help eight different publishers from Europe strengthen digital subscriptions capabilities and grow reader revenue.
