How long have you worked at the FT and what do you cover?
I have been at the FT since September 1987 and I write columns on economics.
What made you want to be a journalist?
I never intended to be a journalist. I was asked to become chief leader writer by the then editor of the FT, Geoffrey Owen, in 1987. I was already 41 and had been a professional economist.
Most bizarre part of your journalism career?
The fact that I became one.
