For the third consecutive year, the Financial Times will participate as a global media partner on Social Media Week, a weeklong festival devoted to exploring emerging trends in social and mobile media. The global event will begin on February 13 in twelve cities around the world.

Social media has become a valuable tool for media companies, including the FT, where social media is the fastest growing source of online traffic. On Wednesday, February 15, we will host a panel discussion on the challenges and opportunities involved in adapting a successful social media strategy. The panel, “Can media companies get social,” will be moderated by Andrew Edgecliffe-Johnson, Global Media Editor of the FT, and will feature Jane Friedman, CEO and Co-Founder of Open Road Media, Rob Grimshaw, Managing Director of FT.com, Brian Madden, Director of Audience Development and Social Media at Hearst Digital, and Jonathan Wald, Executive Producer of CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight.

On Wednesday, February 15 in London, Tim Bradshaw, the FT’s Digital Media Correspondent, will speak on the panel, “Me! Me! Me!
