Two Financial Times journalists were shortlisted in the 2014 One World Media Awards, which honour key voices in independent media that connect people around the world through their reporting of global issues:

  • Katrina Manson (@KatrinaManson), the FT’s East Africa correspondent, is shortlisted for the International Journalist of the Year Award and Press Award for Welcome to Mogadishu. Based in Nairobi, Manson covers news, analysis, politics, business and culture from 13 countries.
  • Leslie Hook (@lesliehook), currently a fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University, is shortlisted for the New Voice Award. From 2010 to 2013, Hook was Beijing-based correspondent for the FT and covered energy, the environment and general news in China and Mongolia.

Winners will be announced on May 6, 2014.
