29 April 2015: Christina Scott, chief product and information officer (CPIO) at Financial Times, has placed fourth this year in the 2015 CIO 100, an annual list showcasing powerful and leading CIOs in the UK that play a central role in modernizing and driving business change in their organizations. She was named second in the media, leisure and entertainment category.

Since Scott’s recognition in the 2014 CIO 100–when she was the only woman to be ranked in the top 20–she has also taken on the role of senior vice president of technology for Pearson Professional, which includes Pearson VUE, English and the Financial Times. In this role, she chairs the product and strategy council, the global product council and investment review board.

Christina Scott said: “I am honoured to be named this year in the CIO 100. It is both gratifying and encouraging to have the Financial Times’ and Pearson’s dedication to strong, smart technology recognized by our peers in the industry.”

Major projects that Scott has been involved with at the FT and Pearson in the past year include the complete rebuild of FT’s content and membership platforms and the creation of the New Student Experience for Wall Street English for Pearson Professional. Scott has more than 20 years experience across the media, IT and engineering industries and a track record of designing and delivering sophisticated commercial and editorial services and innovations. Before joining the Financial Times in 2012, she worked in technology across a number of media companies including the BBC, BT Vision, News International and ITV Digital, and spent several years as a consultant at Accenture.

CIO 100 judges look at candidates’ achievements and transformative vision, as well as whether they put technology high on the boardroom agenda. They also rate technology strategies against IT sourcing strategies and vendor influence.
