Interning with the video team is a great opportunity to get a first-hand insight into broadcast journalism. From helping producers find the ideal location for a shoot, to assisting with video editing or helping out with camera lights the intern becomes active part of the day to day work of the team, making it a great learning experience. Going out filming with top professionals and being able to witness the behind-the-scenes of video interviews taking place in the FT studio have been the highlights of my experience here.

I had people teaching me (for example Nicola was really nice and helpful in that she let me play around with Premiere and taught me shortcuts) but I feel like it was more their personal initiative rather than a standard practice. I think that having a more “formal” process to get interns exposed to the work of the team would make the experience even better than it is right now.
