18 March 2014: The Financial Times will host its tenth annual Business of Luxury Summit on 11-13 May 2014 at the St. Regis Hotel in Mexico City. Chaired by FT editor Lionel Barber, the premier event will bring together senior executives, decision makers and financiers from the global luxury sector to discuss the crucial markets and value systems that will shape the industry in the decade to come.
Since its launch in Shanghai in 2005, the summit has attracted the world’s most influential people in the luxury industry to debate the global financial crisis, innovation in technology and the rapidly changing habits of the luxury consumer.
The Americas has returned this year as luxury’s largest growth market and emerging markets are providing a new wave of opportunity. In Mexico – one of the most exciting and vibrant of the MINT economies – speakers and delegates will look closer at the next 15 emerging economies for the luxury industry, as well as emotional connectors from art to communications that will drive growth.
Lionel Barber, editor of the Financial Times, said: “As the luxury goods industry comes through a period of tremendous growth, new forces of disruption from political turmoil to social media are making this sector an exciting one to watch. At the Business of Luxury Summit, we will hear from the people who are navigating and capitalizing on the opportunities presented by these new challenges.”
The FT Business of Luxury Summit attracts senior executives from global luxury brands, luxury consultants, brand experts, fund managers, M&A specialists and securities and retail analysts.
Previous Summits have been held in Vienna, Marrakech, Lausanne, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Shanghai, Venice, Tokyo and Monte Carlo.
