HONG KONG, 30 May 2012: Leaders in asset management will gather in Hong Kong on 21 June 2012 for the FT Business of Asset Management Summit to discuss strategic opportunities being generated across mature and fast growing emerging markets in Asia and the challenges that must be overcome for the region’s potential to be realised.
The landmark inaugural Summit – sub-titled “Executing Investor Strategies in a Fast-Changing Marketplace” – will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong and feature keynote presentations and high-level panels involving CEOs and CIOs from the world’s top asset management companies and institutional investors, discussing the factors affecting this rapidly evolving sector at a time of momentous change in the global economy.
The one-day summit, organised by the Financial Times, FTfm and Ignites Asia, will be co-chaired by Henny Sender, the FT’s Chief International Finance Correspondent, Pauline Skypala, Editor of FTfm, and Rita Raagas De Ramos, Managing Editor of Ignites Asia. Speakers will include:
The Summit will explore the impact of regulatory reforms that have followed the financial crisis on investment and the asset management industry. It will also look at the growth strategies of key institutional investors such as pension funds and sovereign wealth funds, and the new investment opportunities available to them. Major emerging markets such as China, where the asset management industry remains substantially under-developed, will also be discussed.
“This summit comes at a crucial time for the asset management industry, with increased capital flows into Asia’s emerging markets but against a backdrop of global economic and regulatory uncertainty. The summit will provide an opportunity to discuss growth strategies and the way forward for institutional investors and industry players,” said Pauline Skypala.
BlackRock and HSBC Global Asset Management are platinum sponsors of the Summit, Eastspring Investments is a gold sponsor, and Aberdeen Asset Management are sponsoring the closing cocktail party.
